Philips partner with public and independent sector healthcare providers in order to support the growth of Community Diagnostic Centres and hubs
Philips and Rutherford Diagnostics aim to partner to improve diagnostic services across the United Kingdom, through the launch of five new state-of-the-art community diagnostic centres (CDC) and diagnostic hubs (CDH).
In 2019, Philips and Rutherford Diagnostics agreed a 10-year strategic partnership agreement which will leverage Philips innovative radiology technology and Rutherford Diagnostics’ healthcare expertise, in order to deliver and operate advanced diagnostic services through a network of community diagnostic centres and hubs, optimising healthcare outcomes for patients. Rutherford Diagnostics is a subsidiary of Rutherford Health plc, who operate cancer centres across the United Kingdom.
In September 2021, the Rutherford Diagnostic Centre Somerset opened in Taunton. The centre was inaugurated by the renowned cancer specialist Sir Mike Richards CBE. Stephen McMillan, Solutions lead, Philips UK&I commented: “Philips are proud to be part of this important diagnostics journey to realise the opening of this innovative diagnostic centre and to partner with Rutherford Diagnostics, alongside Somerset NHS Foundation Trust and Equitix. The facility provides patients and staff access to some of the most cutting-edge diagnostic imaging equipment, including the Philips IQon Spectral CT, the world’s first detector-based spectral CT, the Philips Ingenia Elition 3.0T and Ambition X MRI, featuring our fully sealed BlueSeal magnet technology for almost helium-free MRI operations. Imaging rooms will include the Philips Ambient Experience solution, which enables patients to control and personalise their own imaging environment through selecting from a range of colour and video themes. We look forward to welcoming patients and improving care across the Somerset region, and we are confident that these centres will play an important part in reducing diagnostic backlogs, easing pressure on the workforce and helping to achieve the one thing we all care about the most – better health outcomes for patients.”
